Indiana Bankers Association Announces Promotions

The Indiana Bankers Association has promoted four team members, effective Jan. 1:

Rod Lasley has been promoted to chief operating officer of the Indiana Bankers Association. In this position he serves as IBA chief financial officer, plus is responsible for oversight of all of the Association’s business practices, member engagement and corporate communications. Lasley also serves as president of two for-profit companies owned by the IBA. He joined the Association in 2009 as member services representative, and he was promoted to vice president-products & services in 2012 and to executive vice president-products & services in 2020. His accomplishments include negotiating IBA’s work with the academic community to establish banking minors at Purdue University Northwest and Ball State University. Additionally, he oversaw the launch of the IBA BankLEAD internship program and the creation of the IBA Leaders in Banking Excellence awards. Prior to joining the Association, Lasley worked in banking for 18 years, the last three years as president and CEO of IBA-member North Salem State Bank. In that capacity, he served on the IBA Board of Directors and was president of the IBA Future Leadership Division. Within the community, Lasley serves on the board of directors of the Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corporation, is chairman of the Hendricks County Board of Zoning Appeals and is an IHSAA soccer official. In December, he was named 2021 Association Professional of the Year by the Indiana Society of Association Executives. Lasley earned a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University and has completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.

Dax Denton has been promoted to chief policy officer of the Indiana Bankers Association. He joined the IBA as assistant vice president-government relations in 2008 and was promoted to vice president in 2012 and to senior vice president in 2016. Previously, he managed state relations for the Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives, prior to which he was deputy legislative director of the Association of Indiana Counties and legislative intern with BoseTreacy Associates LLC. Denton serves the Governmental Affairs Society of Indiana on the board of governors and as chairman of the membership committee. Additionally, he has been active with the Indiana Society of Association Executives, the Indiana Geographic Information Council, Transportation Enhancement Appropriations Committee, Indiana Historic Preservation’s Courthouse Preservation Task Force and the Lead Elimination Plan Advisory Committee of the Indiana Department of Health. Denton was named 2012 Association Professional of the Year by the Indiana Society of Association Executives, and in 2013 he won in the category of Banking & Financial Services for the Best & Brightest awards, sponsored by Junior Achievement of Central Indiana Inc. He is a graduate of Indiana University, the IBA Leadership Development Program and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. Denton has attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Josh Myers has been promoted to vice president-member engagement of the Indiana Bankers Association. He is responsible for leading the IBA Future Leadership Division, overseeing Indiana BANKPAC and IBA grassroots advocacy and coordinating IBA social media and member engagement strategies. Additionally, he manages the Association’s human resources functions, including payroll and employee benefits. Myers joined the IBA in 2009 to provide administrative support to the Government Relations Team. He later served as executive & government relations coordinator, and in 2018 he was promoted to assistant vice president-member engagement. Before joining the IBA, he served as an intern with the Indiana State Senate Republican caucus, as a legislative intern for Bose Public Affairs Group and as a field manager with the House Republican Campaign Committee. Myers is a graduate of Purdue University and the IBA Leadership Development Program.

Elizabeth DeHaven has been promoted to education manager, assisting the IBA vice president-education & training with the promotion, coordination and execution of IBA seminars, schools, webinars and teleconferences that reach more than 4,500 Indiana bankers annually. She joined the Association in 2014 as education meeting coordinator to assist with the marketing and preparation of IBA events. Prior to joining the IBA, DeHaven gained experience in marketing and customer service through various retail operations, including working as a marketing manager with L.J. Stone Co. Inc. in Muncie. She attended Ball State University.
