Seventeen members of the Indiana banking community completed the 2018 Leadership Development Program of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) on Oct. 12. Designed to heighten leadership ability within the industry, the Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a series of four multiday sessions, spaced over an eight-month period, held at Wooded Glen Retreat and Conference Center in Henryville. Participants are selected by their CEOs and work intensively on sharpening skills in leadership, problem-solving and teambuilding.

Additionally, LDP participants create and execute community service projects, upholding a banking tradition of community support. The 2018 LDP class created four programs: (1) meal preparation at the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, for families of children hospitalized at Riley Hospital for Children; (2) financial literacy instruction at the Heritage Trail Correctional Facility in Plainfield, to prepare inmates for re-entry into society; (3) a “Backpacks of Hope” program, donating 125 backpacks of toiletries, food, etc., to homeless individuals in Indianapolis; and (4) an ongoing “Foster the Need” project, providing essentials and toys for children entering into foster care.
