2018 FLD Day at the Statehouse
The Future Leadership Division (FLD) Day at the Statehouse is dedicated to giving a voice to emerging bank leaders in the political process. This event, recognized in 2015 as the Outstanding Individual Program/Event by the Indiana Society Association of Executives, is a prime opportunity to get to know your legislators for deepened relationship-building, while learning firsthand about the legislative process.
Though IBA is active politically through lobbying and PAC contributions, IBA’s most effective advocacy takes place at the grassroots level, when bankers meet face-to-face with their lawmakers to express industry views. Members of the Indiana General Assembly welcome the opportunity to hear directly from their banking constituents, and they appreciate the effort you make to visit them during Session.
FLD Day at the Statehouse is your opportunity to become politically engaged, and unlock your potential as an industry advocate in Indiana’s political process:
- Hear experts share timely legislative updates;
- Learn to communicate effectively with those in power;
- Hear success stories of bankers in action;
- See behind-the-scenes views of the Statehouse and learn its history;
- Witness legislative hearings;
- Directly lobby elected officials about important banking issues.
The tentative agenda will include an introduction to lobbying, a review of issues facing the industry, a panel on Indiana government and politics and meetings with elected officials. After lunch, participants will walk to the Indiana Statehouse to see the legislative process in action. The remaining time will be spent observing floor sessions of the Indiana House and Senate, where attendees will have the opportunity to visit with their elected officials and walk the halls of Indiana's Statehouse. Throughout the day, attendees will benefit from ample networking time, allowing relationships to be formed and nurtured with fellow bankers.
The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. with registration and networking, and it will conclude at approximately 3:00 p.m.
